Oman is a haven for sea turtles and each year thousands migrate to the Sultanate to lay their eggs. Omani waters are home to a remarkable five of the world’s seven species of sea turtles; green turtles, loggerhead turtles, hawksbill turtles, Oliver Ridley turtles and the leatherback turtle. Not only is it possible to spot these beautiful creatures while snorkelling and diving, but at certain times of the year, you can also go to special locations to watch turtles lay their eggs by night and, early in the morning, witness baby turtles emerge and rush for the safety of the sea.
